Under the regulation of FAA, an airline has the right to remove, disconnect, and insulate batteries if the airline considers it necessary. If there are wet cell batteries in the wheelchair, then the airline can remove the batteries from the wheelchair and store aside. And if there is maintenance-free gel batteries, so it is not necessary to remove the batteries from the wheelchair during flight. The Permobil chairman has a circuit breaker which disconnects power from the batteries. It is present on top of the frame behind the center seat post and it is accessible through a hole in the main shroud. The hole is present about seven inches in front of knob which protects the main shroud to the frame. When the power of the chair is disconnected, it results in the raise of lever of free wheel which is located with left wheel and pushes the chair manually.
