Wheelchair Tires
The wheelchair has many parts and wheel is its basic part because without wheel the wheelchair is just a chair. Tire is included in the wheel of wheelchair and it is made of rubber. There is different type of tires and the material used for the preparation of tires with different proportions for different tires. There is a variety of tires with different shapes and sizes available. There are such tires available in the market where there is no need of air to fill the tires.Shasta wheelchair tire is a high quality tire with air free and it is very smooth on the upper side. It is very light in weight and not so expensive. Urethane formula is carried out in the preparation of Shasta tire and the tire is very durable, it lasts for a long time. The standard size of the tire is 24 × 1 and its rim is 17-20 mm wide with 8mm deep.
The installation of a tire is very easy. First of all, take a soap or oil and put it around the inside of tire but keep in mind that it is not a petroleum product. Put the tire on two places by using the tool. If the tire is very hard then rinse it in a hot tub of water for making the tire a little bit soft in order to make the installation easier. Stretch the tire around the rim while the width increases. When the tire sets itself, then the width of the tire decreases.
There are some points which should be kept in mind. Before the installation of tire, check the wheel. If there is any broken plastic, then repair it first because it can cause the rim disorder during installation. It should be made sure that the tire is properly seated. At the first stage, the tire appears to be shiny which is due to the releasing of mold agent that is used by us. So in the process of seating the tire, a simple green or similar product is used.
Tires have a great influence on the comfort of your ride and the maintenance of your wheelchair. So it is a hard decision which type of tire should be chosen. The tires of wheelchair are made of a grey rubber and it is designed in such a way that it leaves no scuff marks on floors.
There is inflatable tube in pneumatic tires which give more cushioned ride and it goes better over obstacles. Such tires are used in power wheelchair and the risk of punctures is greater due to the extra weight on the chair can cause sharp object piercing the rubber. The flat tire can damage the rim of the wheel or you should use Kevlar tire which is a thorn-resistant tube. If you use solid rubber, then it does not puncture while riding but you lose the comfort of the wheelchair because you feel the bump of the pavement.
